Bone Mineral Densitometry

Bone Mineral Densitometry

Territory X-Ray Services offers Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD) scans.

What is a Bone Mineral Density scan?

Also known as Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) a BMD scan is a non invasive imaging test which uses differing levels of X-ray energies to determine the density of bones. BMD is used in the diagnosis and monitoring of osteopenia and osteoporosis. BMD scans can also provide a fracture risk percentage to patients with osteoporosis.

We also offer Body Composition scans for a low private fee of $49.00

A Body Composition Scan uses a BMD scanner to accurately measure lean muscle, fat and bone mass for the whole body. Body Composition Scans are suitable for those people wanting to lose weight and/or monitor their fitness development. Serial body composition measurements allows trained personnel (coaches, trainers, exercise physiologists)  to monitor and change programmes to suit the individual to help reach a particular goal.

How long does it take?
