Territory X-Ray departments use the latest ultrasound scanners which enable high resolution general, vascular, small parts, obstetric, musculoskeletal and cardiac studies for your patients. We will always endeavour to fit in urgent ultrasound examinations such as DVT and Ectopic pregnancy queries.


What is an Ultrasound?

Ultrasound or sonography is an imaging modality that uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of the human body. This is achieved through the use of a small transducer probe placed in direct contact with the patient’s skin, which emits and receives sound waves that are reflected off the structures of the body.

How long does it take?

Scan’s can take from 15 to 30 minutes depending which area of the body is imaged.

Is the radiation safe?

There is no ionising radiation involved with ultrasound and is considered a safe modality.

Is there any special preparation?

You may be required to change into a gown for the procedure. Some scans require you to fast or have a full bladder for your appointment. You will be notified of any preparation required when booking your scan.
